The Tutsi Tribe is located in Rwanda, Burundi and the Northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo where they were known as Banyamulenge. The Tutsi Tribe contains about 3-4 million people, approximately 14 percent of the population. Within these millions of people there are about five different languages spoken. Including Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Swahili, and English has been known to be spoken by refugees in uganda.
In the past the Tutsi Tribe were cattle herders and considered to be the minority. however the most upper class rulers were Tutsi. There was huge conflict between the Hutu and Tutsi Tribes. Were the Hutu's challenged the Tutsi and overthrew them. Soon after the two sides reached agreement, but the peace didnt last long, because the Hutu's tried to take over again. But weren't successful. In the end the Hutu's ruled Rwanda and the Tutsi's continued to rule Burundi. The Hutu's power over Rwanda ended in 1944 when the got overthrown by the Tutsi's, Millions of people died.
A large majority of the population is christian but their are still some cultural beliefs that exist.

- Imaana- who is a god that has the power to grant fertility and wealth
- Abazima- spirits of deceased relatives have the connection between Imaana and humans. On the down side the Abazima have been known to bring bad luck to those who do not believe in or respect them, so people shower them with gifts to stay on their good side.
